The redevelopment involved the construction of three new levels of structure to the existing Gilbert Building, in addition to an associated state-of-the-art fit out and services modifications, and involved a range of new construction techniques and products. Some of these included the development of a pre-clad fascia panel, which was craned into position and eliminated the use of perimeter scaffolding.
The additional floors to the Gilbert Building were constructed adjacent and just above the very sensitive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with minimal impact and disruption to patients and staff.
